Greetings from the President
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a tremendous strain on our healthcare systems. As the COVID-19 situation evolved, healthcare providers constantly divert and mobilize resources to deliver the care needed by patients. It has also created tremendous disruption in all aspects of training and education over the past 3 years. These ranged from cessation of in-person meetings and pivoting to full virtual meetings. Though virtual meetings are suitable alternatives, its limitations reduce participant engagement and often generate meeting fatigue.
HRAS hosted the 15th Asia-Pacific Heart Rhythm Society 2022 Annual Scientific Session on 18-20 Nov 2022 at Suntec Convention Centre Singapore. It was an amazing weekend. Over 3 days, we conducted 134 scientific sessions involving 333 faculty members, presented 484 abstracts for 2038 participants from 45 countries. Importantly, there were countless in-person encounters as we share development and advances in heart rhythm management.
HRAS will strive to deliver engaging in-person education and training to advance the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart rhythm disorders. We will collaborate with local and regional medical societies to achieve these objectives. I hope these in-person sessions will also provide opportunities to renew friendships and offer much needed catching up.
Best wishes for the new year.
